Music Monday

After a short hiatus I return with Passion Pit. I missed this band when they were in town, and really wasn't into them at the time. During some retail therapy, in which I grabbed several albums and rushed to the register without even worrying about the cost, Passion Pits Manner was in that stack.
I didn't listen to it immediately, after a couple of weeks it made the rotation and it instantly took me back to my early 20's, drunken times, and awesome dance parties my friend and I had on a daily basis. With a combination of good electro beats and lyrics, they make my route to work just a little bit brighter ;).

Music Mondays

Note this Monday as the first of many music Mondays to come...I hope. I will say this is all based on my opinion and that i do not think I am any sort of music expert.

Lately, I have been really into girl/boy duos. The idea of 2 sexes coming together and mutually agreeing and acknowledging the others musical talent is, well, is sweet. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. The Kills:

Alison Mosshart and Jaime Hines use the bare minimals to create grungy clever songs.

2. She&Him

Zoe Deschanel and M. Ward make sweet harmonies with dreamy guitar riffs to compliment.

3. Best Coast

Bethany Consentino, Bobb Bruno (now former drummer for the Vivian Girls, Ali Koehler has joined the group) make care free music complete with a 60's surfer vibe.

4. Beach House

Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally compose the kind of music you can daydream about while floating on clouds.

Summer to Fall Dress

I have been working on this dress since the beginning of the summer. And when I say working, I mean cutting the pieces one day, waiting a week or 2 then sewing the top, waiting another few weeks to work on the pockets. It's a pretty simple dress and it wasn't until I started my weekly sessions with a sewing instructor that I felt the pressure to finish it. So now all I have left is the zipper and my sweet summer dress will be ready to wear in the fall!

Sew Sunday...

My sister and I have decided to complete a project every Sunday.

For our first project we made simple totes. To our surprise, we actually started and finished them in a few hours for the first time ever!!! Now why didn't we think of this before she was due to have her baby boo...well better late than never.

Flower child

It has been a long week! Between packing up, moving, and keeping up with work stuff, I have had to put sewing on the back burner for a bit.

I refuse to break one of my resolutions so today I decided to make a little fabric flower. I know it isn't anything to impress but I like it just as much. I have visions of flower hairpins and belts to come!

Twinkle Sews!

I got this book with a Barnes and Noble gift card I got from my secret Santa (thanks Carlos)...

I am both excited and nervous about the projects in it. There are some that look super easy and some that have a lot of detail but overall the designs are chic and unique! Wish me luck ^.^

Trial and Error...

Woo hoo! I actually finished a project in a week. Though it is far from perfect I am super happy with it! And aside from having to pull really hard over my chest area to put it on...it is wearable. I was trying to make a elastic tube top dress, but instead of cutting one long piece of fabric and inserting the elastic I cut a top and bottom ! AHHH! But now I know and the next time I make this dress it can only get better....I HOPE!

New Years Resolutions!!!

It's a new year and time for a fresh start. I know I am a little late on this but I did not have a computer for 2 weeks...ugh! This year I hope to be more productive and independent. With that said these are my New Year's Resolutions:

  1. Work on one sewing project a week.- I've noticed I am more of a dreamer than a do-er, and I am ready to make that switch over to do-er!
  2. Stay active-Most nights you could find me sitting on my couch being a lazy ass...not anymore
  3. Update blog twice a week- this is the only one that scares me a bit. I'm not tech savvy at all. I am the person who leaves pictures on her camera for months. So this goal will definitely give me that extra push (hopefully...)
Those are my top 3 resolutions! Happy New Year!

Year of the Tiger! I have been searching for the perfect tiger rug I think this is the year!
